Debra’s 2017 Events
Come to one of my presentations, and let’s meet in person! This spring I’m doing events I promise will inspire and delight you. And in the fall I’m launching my latest book at celebrations you won’t want to miss!
Thurs., May 18 at Village Nursery, Miramar, San Diego
“Do’s and Don’ts for Succulent Landscapes” Horticultural Encounter for landscape professionals. I’ll show common mistakes, terrific yet underutilized succulents, lawn-to-succulent conversions, top designers’ signature styles, perfect plant pairings, and companions worth considering. Free, but please contact the nursery to register.
Mon., June 12, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., San Diego Horticultural Society “Night at the Fair”
I’m pleased to announce that I’m being honored as SDHS “2017 Horticulturist of the Year”! The San Diego County Fair is closed Mondays, so Hort Society members and guests will have the Flower Show to ourselves. That means free up-front parking! No waiting in line! You’ll get to see all the Flower Show exhibits while enjoying refreshments and dessert, plus a short awards program. Would you like to come as my guest? Email me.
Sat., June 17, 9 to 10 a.m. Roger’s Gardens Nursery, Corona del Mar, CA
It’s my tenth annual potting demo at Roger’s! Free. Come early to get a good seat.
From the Roger’s Gardens website: “Debra Lee Baldwin’s bestselling books about succulents launched the current succulent craze, earning her the title “Queen of Succulents.” One of our most popular presenters, Debra’s mission is ‘to entertain and enlighten in equal measure.’ As she combines great looking, easy care succulents with lovely containers (all from Roger’s), Debra shares terrific tips, ideas, and design secrets. You’ll leave confident in your ability to use succulents to express your own style and beautifully enhance your outdoor spaces. Book signing follows.”
BOOK LAUNCH EVENTS
Come celebrate with me! I’ll be bringing, warm from the presses, the completely revised, 10th anniversary, second edition of the book that launched global interest in succulents and made horticultural history: Designing with Succulents. (Learn more about the new edition.)

Mon., Oct. 9, 7 p.m. San Diego Horticultural Society “Designing with Succulents in the New San Diego Garden.”
You’ll discover practical and appealing uses for succulents, and how to use these low-water lovelies to enhance gardens large and small. I’ll explain what works and what doesn’t, plus low-water companions and design elements that you can use to create a distinctive, regionally appropriate, naturewise, eye-catching, easy-care landscape. Come early—I’ll be there to sign books before my presentation!
Let me enlighten and entertain you!
When presenting in person or making videos, I describe the care and cultivation of gorgeous, easy-care succulents; show new introductions and great ideas; and explain how to select, grow and maintain succulents for landscapes, gardens and containers.
